Every model you meet will tell you that they have spent years learning how to perfect their poses. Finding the photographic sweet spots that accentuate your assets is more trial and error than anything else, especially when you don’t have a professional photographer to direct your movements. And for those of us on a budget, the photographer we can afford is the one we see in the mirror every day. Yet whether you are using a professional photographer or your own camera, a timer, and tripod, there are shortcuts one can take called "tactical posing.” Join The Assets for a discussion and demonstration of how to put your best features forward using light, shadow, and just the right camera angles!
Hailing from Miami, JUke is a new breed of Post-blues and the brainchild of singer/songwriter/harmonica whiz, Eric Garcia, who was dissatisfied with most dated, non-threatening traditional blues. Eric felt the need to bring the angst and power back into the type of music that seemed to lose some of it’s relevance and impact.
Teaming up with guitar phenom and singer, Evan Lamb, was the catapult that made JUke go and realize Eric’s vision. The addition of powerhouse drummer, Brian Lange, and the endless grooves from bassist, Taylor Byrd, have completed the unique hybrid that has become JUke.
JUke’s songwriting is one of the things that separate them from the pack. The subject matter and lyrical content has long been hailed by their fans and only adds to their legend.
Couple that with their performance and musicianship, and you have a band you can learn to love.
JUke’s first album, ” Lungbutter‑the Blues Basement Tapes”, is available on iTunes.
The recording of their sophomore album, ” Down Low Cool”, is out now! JUke’s in-your-face live shows and stories of love, loss and pain make them the band to see!!! Visit them online at https://www.facebook.com/jukedirtyblues

Art of the Pin-Up Girl: The Musical will premier at Pinned Miami!
Pin-up girls − those iconic, perfectly proportioned beauties who have adorned magazine pages, posters, calendars and bedroom walls for more than a century – will come to life in a new musical set to premier in South Florida with concert staging in May.
The new show – Art of the Pin-Up Girl − is the culmination of a decade-long dream for Heather Storm, the Jupiter, Fla., based playwright, lyricist and singer/songwriter who has lovingly crafted the book and lyrics. The 15 original songs in the musical were composed by Gregory “Popeye” Alexander, Storm’s husband and a well-known South Florida composer, producer, singer and radio personality. Musical contributions and production of the soundtrack was provided by Alex J. Weir at Dreamhouse Studios, West Palm Beach, FL.
For the first time in South Florida, Art of the Pin-Up Girl will be presented in a concert format, highlighting 10 of the original songs with a historical and visual narrative by the playwright. The event will feature a live band, known as Popeye & the Pin-Ups, and performers from the South Florida area will bring the classic pin-ups to life onstage.
Art of the Pin-Up Girl tells the stories of actual people and events in history, weaving them into a tapestry that is a glorious musical trip through the time and space of Pin-Up Art in America. “Those women were real women, live models for the artists. They lived fascinating and often scandalous lives,” Storm says. “Their stories are firmly rooted in the lore of our American theatrical and entertainment culture – from the richness of the burlesque to the Greenwich and Ziegfeld Follies, to the Golden Age of Hollywood and yes, even Playboy.”
Familiar characters who leap off the pages in Art of the Pin-Up Girl include pin-up legends Bettie Page, Anna Mae Clift, Lena Horne and Rosie the Riveter, as well as acclaimed artists Alberto Vargas and Baron von Lind – who has created an original pin-up girl poster to promote the new musical. Lind’s lifelong obsession with pin-up inspired the narrative for the play, Storm notes.
“We are thrilled to be presenting a concert of the show’s music at PINNED” Storm says. “It has been our goal to bring this piece to South Florida since the NYC reading two years ago and the audience at PINNED is our dream audience. It will be thrilling to share this musical with people who love the beautiful world of pin-up as much as we do.”

South Florida’s Kings of Rockabilly, Slip and the Spinouts are bringing their eclectic blend of rockabilly, western swing, surf, old country, blues and roots music to Pinned Miami.
Formed 12 years ago, Slip and the Spinouts are an old school 3 piece band with upright bass, Hollowbody guitar {and sometimes a Tele} and a small combo drum kit.
The Spinouts have played all over the country, including performing at Viva Las Vegas in 2008 and 2011. They have recently been featured in New Times Magazine, We Merge Talent magazine and also have had articles in the Palm Beach Post, Sun-Sentinel and Hot House Florida jazz and Blues magazine.

Pinned Miami Comedy Show, featuring some of the most talented comedians in South Florida!
Blood Oaks is a high-energy, vaudevillian rockabilly/cowpunk band featuring heavy distortion, punk rock tempos, Gospel harmonies, folk instruments, and outlaw country lyrics. The live shows are like a traveling sideshow and feature fire breathing, burlesque dancers, and snake oil preaching.
Blood Oaks is a strange beast. On one hand, it is a high-energy rock band making ragged, jangling music that is equal parts punk rock and outlaw country. On the other, it is a performance piece: a vaudevillian stage show full of snake oil preaching, burlesque dancing, and fire breathing. Both aspects are integral to the core of what Blood Oaks strives to be–an experience.
“Parole Blues,” the first single from an upcoming album, captures the essence of Blood Oaks entirely. It is an up-tempo song with playfully sad lyrics. The song tells the story, the way most Blood Oaks songs do, of a man coming back home after a long time only to find his girl has moved on. Its a story song in the great country/folk tradition, except set over old-school punk guitar chords.
Blood Oaks began as an attempt to incorporate a lot of different, and sometimes widely incompatible, musical influences. The band has been influenced by everyone from George Jones, Johnny Cash, and Eddie Noack to The Ramones, Stiff Little Fingers, and The Dammed. They are equal parts The Cramps and Ernest Tubb. The sound has, however, been honed over the years into a strong and unwavering ethos: fast, loud, and jangly. The last year has seen the addition of what is affectionately referred to as the sideshow. They are a group of performers, some permanent, who are an integral part of the live show. The show often includes fire-and-brimstone-style preaching, fire breathing, humorous signs, dancing girls, and a healthy dose of satire and irrelevance. The addition of these elements and members is what finally made the band feel whole. Their reckless onstage abandon is probably best summed-up with the chorus of Duck and Cover, the bands favorite closing song: “When the wall fall down/ and the ceiling caves in/ I will raise my glass/ and toast the end because/ I am not afraid!”

Gold Dust Lounge’s musical style weaves together eclectic influences from gritty surf punk echoed by the jazz of Ellington, Monk, and Mingus to classic TV theme songs and midcentury exotica. The band is a fixture in the Miami scene with regular performances and residencies at venues including The Standard, The Royal Palm, The Betsy, The Broken Shaker, Bardot, and throughout the burgeoning Wynwood and downtown scenes. They play clubs up and down the South Florida coast, as well as tour outside of the state. “The inside of Mofsky’s head is like a tour of your cool neighbors garage, the one with the recording studio in it”, says the Sun Sentinels Ben Crandell. “There are guitars and amps, old skateboards and surfboards, Miles Davis albums next to those of Debussy and Sonic Youth, a console TV set once home to Gilligan’s Island, Bonanza, Hogan’s Heroes and Lawrence Welk, some Bettie Page pictures, fliers from an assortment of Brooklyn and Wynwood bars, a poster for A Fistful of Dollars and a roll-up movie screen that might have flickered with 16mm scenes from Voyage to the Planet of Prehistoric Women.” Gold Dust Lounges new album, Lost Sunset, is due out in May 2014.
Mofsky is also working on original music for a forthcoming documentary on noted pin-up photographer, Bunny Yeager.
